" To dream anything that you want to dream. That's the beauty of the human mind. To do anything you want to do. That is the strength of the human will. To trust yourself to test your limits. That is the courage to succeed"
Anna Cate is my first born child.
She was a perfect baby who started to show signs of developmental delays around the age of 18months. After years of searching, in November 2007 at the
age of 5 she was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome.
She is truly a blessing to our whole family.
She has taught us all (especially me) so much about life.
Anna Cate is the strongest child I know.
She never gives up.
She never complains.
She is sweet, but she can also be mean (its a woman's prerogative!).
She is funny and loving.
She is smart and inquisitive.
She is beautiful.
She is my daughter!
Emilie, aka, Mommy, Mom, Em...
I am the mother to three...Anna Cate, Betsie and Eli.
I am also a daughter, wife, a sister, an aunt and a friend.
My children mean the world to me and I would do anything for them.
Anna Cate and I have a strong relationship.
She teaches me and I teach her.
Our life together with Rett is not easy and we are tested daily, but we face each day with positive energy.
All I want is for her to be as typical as she can with Rett Syndrome and I will help her be the best she can be.
I promised her I would never give up on her.
She is my inspiration.
