Today's gift is Ca Ca.
You might be able to guess it....she said a new word!!!! Now to most of you, you probably can not guess what word she is saying. And I will give you the credit that you didn't know the context it was used in either.
How many of you had the word 'car' come to mind first?
No....that is not it. She actually can say the word 'car'.
I will not leave you hanging anymore....
Tonight my husband was starting to put her to bed for me while I was busy and then I was going to switch places with him as it is technically my turn to put her to bed tonight (we alternate nights with all the kids). He was asking her to chose her book she wanted read to her, just like we do every night.
She pointed to "Cocoa and Cowgirl Kate" and said "CA CA"!!!! Ca Ca was for Cocoa!!!!
The speech therapist who was just here with us this past weekend for the PODD training said we may start to see her vocalize more now too and get new approximations/words. I loved the idea that this was possible. But, never did I expect the surprise so fast!
The simplest surprises are the best...aren't they?!?

Her Hairbrush
Today's gift is her hairbrush.
Not so much the brush...but rather what she did with it!
Tonight while I was blow drying her hair, she picked up her hairbrush and handed it to me!!!
This is a first!
After the first time, she kept picking it up and then tapping it on the floor...with rhythm, as if she were playing the drums. She had quite the beat too!
I took a couple of pictures. The one that interests me the most, is the first one. Even after she picks up "something" she is interested in, she still goes back to wringing her hands....as if her hands were being attracted together again by two magnets! The whole time she is wringing, she still holds onto the object in her hand...pretty talented...and I would think kinda painful?!?
The next picture is her tapping the brush on the ground...to her own beat.
I just love how she handed me her brush in an appropriate setting and at an appropriate time! You never know when life is going to hand you little surprises...

Cup...Me
Today's gift is cup...me.
I kept my daughter home one more day to rest as there are so many germs flying around I didn't want her to go to school not feeling at least 90% better. Tomorrow she will go for sure as she really misses her friends!
After I got her dressed this morning and did a dry run with my packing...(I really want to take my suitcase ON the plane with me...) she said "cup", as she wanted something to drink. I told her as soon as we get downstairs I will get her something to drink.
She is full of surprises and I will definitely be thinking about this gift when I am running 13.1 miles in her honor on Sunday. Who knows, I may be at the point somewhere along the run where the only words that come out of my mouth will be "Cup...me"...as I will be one thirsty girl!

Yes, believe it or not, I did get everything to fit in!
I don't think we were in the family room two minutes when she sat down on the sofa and said, "cup me"! I said, "I know you want something to drink, I'm getting it"...to which she replied, "yeah"!
We do not get many two word combinations, but when we do it is not only incredible, but 100% spoken with a purpose! She is full of surprises and I will definitely be thinking about this gift when I am running 13.1 miles in her honor on Sunday.
