Today's gift is being friendly.
My daughter loves being around her friends and family. She just loves being around people. People watching is one of her favorite things to do when we go out...mine too!
My daughter loves to get the attention of others when we are out. She is incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such amazing people in her life that I think she feels everyone she encounters should be friendly to her, like those she knows.
However, sometimes this is not the case. It truly amazes me how some people can just not acknowledge a child who is trying to get their attention or looking at them. Anyone can be friendly and smile or say "hi".
Today we had a fun family day. We started our day at church, then finished up some shopping for a family we are helping this Christmas, went out to lunch, put lights on our tree outside, played with the neighbors, had an afternoon treat and drove around looking at Christmas lights. Every place we went today, Little Miss Social...aka my daughter, was trying to grab the attention of everyone...and she was! Everyone was super friendly today.
I think it must be the time of year, as this doesn't always happen. The holidays seem to bring out the best in people, however, you will encounter a Grinch now and then too. Lucky for us today, there was no Grinch!
My daughter has taught me to always be friendly to everyone you come in contact with. How a smile or one word like "hello" can go a long way.
In the spirit of Christmas, the next time you are out...like tomorrow....think how you could make one person happy by being friendly!
Here are two quotes for today....
One kind word can change someone's entire day- Author Unknown
Character is how you treat those who can do nothing for you- Author Unknown
